Exit Counseling
According to Federal Regulations, all students who have previously received a Federal Loan must complete an Exit Counseling Session upon graduation or departure from school.
Returning students (students who have graduated...completed one session...returned to school...may or may not have received a new loan, but do have loans in deferment...and...are graduating again) must complete another Exit Counseling Session.
All Loans MUST be repaid.
REMEMBER:
- Keep good records of the amounts you borrowed.
- Know who your lender and servicing/guaranty agencies are.
- If your loan has been purchased by a third party, know who they are.
- Keep a record of all important addresses and phone numbers.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, providing accurate and true information.
- Learn the differences between deferment, forbearance, delinquency, consolidation, and default.
- Make your payments on time...if you become financially strapped, contact your lender to make other arrangements.
- AVOID GOING INTO DEFAULT. This will adversely affect your credit rating and purchasing power.
